A couple of weeks ago, I visited Malvern with ‘Angel Hound’ -having just lost my eldest dog – aged 21, I felt a little lacklustre. I went away to write and explore the area. However, after a couple of days I felt a desire to interact with the fluffy ones. So, I called Worcestershire Animal Rescue (WARS for short.) They agreed I could visit that same day and before I knew it – I was in the good hands of the deputy manager ‘Ned.’
He took time to show me around the sanctuary, to include the forthcoming sensory garden for dogs and those who’ve lost their pets to find comfort in a peaceful environment. There will be more about all this in our next feature.
Today we must discuss with you a boy who stole our hearts ‘Tyson.’ A Staffordshire Terrier – 10 years young and through no fault of his own found himself in rescue many years ago. As you can imagine he feels a bit fed up that still he hasn’t his own sofa and family to love him. He’d be fine with another dog and children age 12 plus. To be honest I see him as the one special boy as at his age he needs to feel special. Ned is an expert with animals and those interested will have an informal chat with Ned who will know when he has found the right owner for the beautiful Tyson (who loves to have his belly rubbed.)
The sanctuary is run with total love in a way that makes the animals feel so settled. People aren’t allowed to walk up to the cages (which can make the dogs and cats feel anxious.) Ned and the team first speak with those interested in a new fluffy friend then match the dog or cat accordingly. This works.
But for now, we want to devote this blog entirely to Tyson. We love a happy ending. Could you be that special person who has room in your heart and home? Older pets come with wisdom and tranquillity. They have history and are ready to show their gratitude by return. Always consider the elderly fluffies.

Next, we will be bringing news of the chill out lounge and sensory garden at the shelter. A great example for other rescues to follow. Thank you ever so much to Ned and the team for a great day. We here at UKRescueConnect wish Tyson all the best on his new and loving journey.
